Our spring music theatre production for grades K-5 is Honk! Jr. Since it first hatched in 1993 Honk! has winged its way around the world in over 8000 productions and in many different languages. Adapted for young performers, and with a score by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Mary Poppins), Honk! Jr. is a heart-warming celebration of being different that delights audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit and memorable score.
Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on adventure of self discovery all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.
Witty and hilarious, but also deeply moving, Honk! Jr. treats audiences to equal amounts of laughter and tears. Its charm, humor, and message of tolerance is perfect for any cast and audience.
All Centerstage students in grades K-5 are invited to audition! Elementary Theatre students are automatically in the production. Other students are invited to participate without additional tuition - just the cost of materials ($75). If you're not yet enrolled, join our Elementary Theatre class for the course of the production! Rehearsals will be held during our regular Elementary Theatre classes, with additional practices scheduled on Fridays/Saturdays after December.
Individual auditions will be held for students who wish to have a speaking role or featured solo, or for any student who wishes to gain audition experience. They are not required - students wishing to begin their stage experience as part of the chorus do not have to audition.
